soooo, that's it! - the portrait of the boy i talked about looong time ago... unfortunately i could neither scan it well nor choose a better lighted place to take a photo of it....

anyway, i really did my best, at least for such kind of material (paper A4 for printing), & i must confess that im quite pleased with the result (if i dont count the small wrinkles at some places because of the water used). moreover, i made it just to make sure if there's life in the old dog yet --> its really THE FIRST pic since 2002/3, so....

bout the choice:
i dont think stars need more photos/drawings & such stuff than they have already received. moreover, human beings who are next to me, who i've seen, talked to, had fun together, in other words --> have experienced live, mean much more to me. thats why i think artists should "waste" their time drawing their friends, relatives, etc. --> people that deserve being the most (my opinion, i dont engage anyone with it). & because I met this boy just a week or so before starting my job, & i had sth like an everyday contact to him, his face left a strongly imprint in my mind & was one from the first i desperatedly needed to draw. moreover, there is much light in him, enough inspiration 4 all these months that passed by (9 or so - i started my work on the 11 of July '07 and finished it on the 30th of March '08 --> the first two days i worked intensively, & then i worked sth like an hour & even less per month in the average...). i really liked his soft features, & the fuss amused me a lot as well.

...& now lil explanations /meant as some kind of excuse 4 the plagiarism/:

-i had the idea of drawing him with a flower stuck on his ear from the very beginning - i wanted him look more foolish, the fuss he's made wasn't enough. moreover, the typical bg appearance "selski ergen" has always been charming me. & when i saw: [link] i thought: "thats it! an orchid! it must be an orchid!" so i tracked down the source &, of course, chose a different one that matched better.

-already gained impetus & having different vision bout the things, i suddenly spotted the indoor palm behind him in the corner. & i thought - thats it! orchids +palms = hawaii!

so i send him in a studio, with such an umbrella (used from photographers in the last century) --> but of course ' made eth look ridiculous.

-bout the colours/b.w. - i wanted it B/W but when i chose the leis & the orchid, i just couldnt let them without their inspiring beauty. on the other side, i couldnt afford him painted. so, i decided to try semi-coloured i think i produced a passable effect.
